Where exactly does the game of Roulette actually come from, and what are its origins? As far back as the Middle Ages, located in many street markets, people played the game called “Wheel of Fortune”, where luck was the main element in being successful in the game. With the highly successful television show of the same name, prove that these wheels have been brought into popular mainstream entertainment, where often the winnings will be given to charities. The term “Roulette” is a French invention of the multi-talented inventor, Blaise Pascal, who was among other things, a Mathematician. In 1649, a machine for research at the Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung was created by him. “Roulette” is the French term for “wheels”, meaning small wheel. With the true number of marked rows, Pascal tested his theories and later published his findings in a book. This was the beginning foundations of what we today have come to know as the game of roulette. The origins of the roulette ball, as we know it today, is unclear. The first written mention of such a game comes from a 1720 English source. In the same century, roulette, in the current form that we know today was also a very popular game in France – particularly within the more upper class societies, where the rich and beautiful would socialise in casinos. Louis XV unsuccessful attempted to ban roulette, only to have a state regulation set in 1837 by Napoleon. During which time the game of Roulette move across the border to Germany where two French Brothers François and Louis Blanc introduced it to the people in the Casino Spa town of Homburg. They were also the first people to ever use the single style “0″ into the roulette wheel. Other variations were found in early America where wheels contained numbers between 1 and 28, single zero, double zero, and an American Eagle. Each number paid out 1 to 27 unless the ball landed on any zero or eagle in which case the dealer swept all bets from the table. In modern times different variations can be played from American Roulette, French Roulette, to European Roulette. Each variation has got its own distinct rules which offers the modern player with some unique experiences. It’s no wonder why Online Roulette Games are so popular amongst online players.
